Merlin Cinemas is delighted to announce that starting on Friday 8th December, Torquay’s New Central Cinema on Union Street is dropping ticket prices to make going to the movies more affordable for everyone. Film tickets will be just £5 or £4 for Movie Magic Cardholders. But wait, there’s more! You can opt instead for The Big Movie Deal ticket option at £6.99 (or £5.99 for MMCs) which includes your ticket to see the film and a £4 voucher to spend on snacks and drinks at the cinema, bar, and restaurant.
These new prices will be in place ready for you to experience the pure imagination of the highly-anticipated family movie Wonka, which stars Timothée Chalamet as the young Willy Wonka alongside a supporting cast that includes Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, and Hugh Grant as a well-spoken Oompa Loompa!
Wonka from Warner Bros. Studios. Opens Friday 8th December.
The popular kids’ club offer The Mini Movie Deal will also be available on select days with films specifically chosen to suit a younger audience at a cost of just £3.99 with a mini drink and popcorn included. But that’s not just kids’ prices, adults pay the same! Look out for special festive classics in this offer.
The restaurant Hollywood Pizza, which sits within the same building, will also be offering deals to suit all the family including tempting takeaway offers!
“We are incredibly excited to announce this momentous change in our ticket pricing”, said Craig May, Company Director at Merlin Cinemas. “We’re proud to operate in Torquay, a town that Merlin has been part of for many years. Our goal is to make the magic of movies accessible to everyone. We try to provide a big choice of titles and times for all the latest blockbusters, as well as bringing beloved classics back to the big screen and an exciting Event Cinema programme. We believe that entertainment should be affordable and that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the magic of cinema.”
New Central Cinema on Union Street, Torquay
Now boasting four screens, Merlin Cinemas relocated from the old building on Abbey Road to the new site on Union Street, which opened in April 2022. The building, which was previously the BHS store, has undergone extensive redevelopment to bring a modern cinema and street-level restaurant to the town centre. Like many industries, the film and cinema industry has faced challenges throughout the last few years, but the future of cinema is bright.
Lowered ticket prices mark a significant step towards ensuring the thrill of the big screen is within reach for all in our local community. Whether it’s an adventure, romance, comedy, or fantasy, your New Central Cinema remains dedicated to providing top-quality entertainment at prices that won’t disappoint.
