TK Maxx presents Southampton Summer Sessions wrapped up in spectacular style on Sunday 29 June, as legendary Scottish rockers Simple Minds delivered a powerful, career-spanning set to mark the grand finale of the concert series in Guildhall Square. They were joined by Liverpool’s new wave icons China Crisis, closing out the run of shows on a high.
Highlights included:
· China Crisis got the night going with a laid-back, synth-soaked set full of nostalgic magic. Their classics Wishful Thinking and Christian hit all the right notes, setting the mood perfectly for the final night of the series.
· Taking to the stage to a roar of excitement, Simple Minds didn’t hold back – rolling through hit after hit in a set that had the entire square singing along. From Alive and Kicking to Don’t You (Forget About Me), Promised You a Miracle, and Belfast Child, it was a masterclass in stadium-worthy anthems. Frontman Jim Kerr was on top form, connecting with fans old and new and making the final night feel as intimate as it was epic.
It was a fitting end to an amazing run of shows in Southampton – thanks to all who joined us! You can catch the rest of 2025’s Summer Sessions shows in Bedford and Derby: www.smmrsessions.com.
