DEL AMITRI, COACH PARTY, CVC AND BAILEY TOMKINSON & THE LOCALS ANNOUNCED IN LINE-UP REVEAL FOR SIMPLE MINDS LIVE IN THE WYLDES
In the midst of a world-wide tour, with sold-out arena dates and rave reviews of their ability to deliver a performance as legendary as the band themselves, Simple Minds are at the top of their game. And on Saturday 22 June 2024, for the first time in 40 years, they will be performing in Cornwall.
The Wyldes, the atmospheric grassroots venue hosting Simple Minds have announced a line-up of rock legends and new faces in the genre to support the band on their Cornish tour date, in a move that’s sure to delight ticket-holders and prospective customers alike.
Announced earlier this year, fellow Scottish alt-rock luminaries Del Amitri are direct support for Simple Minds, accompanying them on several stops of the world tour. With an impressive catalogue of hit rock singles including ‘Roll To Me’, ‘Nothing Ever Happens’, and ‘Tell Her This’, Del Amitri will be bringing 80s and 90s fan favourites, as well as songs from their latest album Fatal Mistakes to thier performance at The Wyldes.
Joining the billing in vibrant contrast will be relative newcomers Coach Party. Embodying what NME described as a ‘joyous, pint-spilling brand of indie rock’, female-fronted four-piece Coach Party find influence in a broad palate of artists including Nirvana, The Strokes and Wolf Alice, their primary drive for songwriting stemming from “the often entertaining struggle of real life”.
Earlier in the evening, CVC (short for Church Village Collective) will match The Wyldes’ tree-filled valley in chilled-out, summer ambience. With music The Guardian described as ‘psych-pop made for outdoor stages at sundown’ – CVC are a classy answer to a world-wide yearning for 60s sunbleached nostalgia.
St Ives sweethearts Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals will open the stage for the Simple Minds show. The band masterfully blends elements of folk, pop, and rock to create a sound that is both uniquely British and universally appealing, proving that UK country music is not just a trend, but a vibrant and vital part of the global music tapestry.
Breaking free from the constraints of a standard concert, unique outdoor venue The Wyldes offers a broader experience for audiences, providing a full afternoon and evening of entertainment, a variety of food vendors and bars, a festival feel with an array of camping options, and an afterparty for those keen to keep the party going (and to avoid peak exit times).
Tickets are still available for Simple Minds live in The Wyldes, but are selling fast, with all Glamping and most Premium camping entry tickets now sold out for the event. Organisers expect that all tickets will sell out prior to the event.
