The Multi-Award Winning Paignton Pantomime Productions presents….
Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates
@ The Palace Theatre, Paignton
In 1935 Paignton Urban District Council approached local theatrical impresario Jack Baker to produce a pantomime for the people of Torbay. Paignton Pantomime Productions was born and was such a success that Jack went on to write and devise the next twenty five pantomimes. Now in its 90th year over 1,700 local people have performed with the company and helped to maintain the high standard which has created the Christmas tradition of pantomime at the Grand Old Lady. In fact since 1935 the Covid year was the only time no pantomime was able to be produced.
To celebrate this 90th production PPP is bringing you a first. Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates is a swash-buckling, hilarious adventure packed story with classic pantomime fun. New colourful backdrops, new costumes, new songs and many talented actors new to the company will provide a joyous trip from Rio and back to Mardi Gras via deserts and tropical islands. Join Robinson Crusoe as he hunts for treasure with a map that has the “x” missing hotly pursued by pirates and cannibals. He also meets other outrageous characters with laugh out loud moments and classic panto magic. Where else will you find dancing parrots and dancing pineapples this Christmas?
If you are able why not dress up as a pirate or sailor and add to the fun atmosphere in the cosy theatre where you are never far away from the action. So help keep the Paignton tradition alive and book your tickets soon because last year’s Sleeping Beauty nearly sold out and was awarded “Best Large Pantomime in the South West” by The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).
Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates runs from the 20th December to the 4th January and there are 8 matinees.
