Bristol Sounds: Open-air music series cranks up the volume for 2024

Returning to the harbourside from Saturday 22nd – Sunday 30th June 2024 is Bristol’s annual summer concert series Bristol Sounds. Presenting 7 nights of music with headliners: Skindred, Gentleman’s Dub Club x The Skints, James Arthur, Busted, Annie Mac, The Breeders and sold out night with Placebo.

 Saturday 22nd June: Skindred

Opening the festival with an all day event headlined by UK ragga-metal heavyweights Skindred, Sounds-goers should expect their unique brand of reggae, rock and metal. Hailing from just across the water in South Wales, this will be a real treat for all Bristol rockers. Their latest album release ‘Smile’, follows their meteoric rise from Newport to the world stage. Also expect music from Glastonbury rockers Reef and one of modern hard rock’s most exciting breakouts, the Kris Barras Band. Plus more acts to be announced.

Sunday 23rd June: Gentleman’s Dub Club vs The Skints

With everything from reggae and ska to high energy instrumental drum and bass on the menu, dub’s best dressed gentleman will really turn up the volume. The all day ska, reggae and dub event, will be co-headlined by the “Torchbearers of reggae music”, The Skints. Renowned for their heavy touring ethic and reggae fused beats, an incredible live show is part and parcel of what they do. Plus music from: The Dualers, Dreadzone, Hollie Cook, Kiko Bun and Count Skylarkin.

Wednesday 26th June: James Arthur

Following the release of his fifth album ‘Bitter Sweet Love’ and with a SOLD OUT arena tour taking place later this year, James Arthur is at his best! Undoubtedly one world’s biggest streaming artists with over 38 million monthly listeners. Having not performed in Bristol in over 6 years the amphitheatre is guaranteed to be aglow with the light of a thousand phone torches as he re-writes the stars with ballads and hits. With support from Calum Bowie.

Thursday 27th June: Busted

Pop-punk royalty Busted celebrate 20 years of success with #1 smash-hits like ‘Crashed The Wedding’, ‘Who’s David’, ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ and the top three singles, ‘Year 3000’, ‘Air Hostess’, and ‘Sleeping With The Light On’ – fans can anticipate an electrifying performance as the band delivers a captivating blend of chart-topping anthems and fan-favourites. Plus some very exciting special guests, yet to be announced.

 Friday 28th June: Placebo

Now SOLD OUT Placebo will be joined by Porridge Radio and Friedburg.

Saturday 29th June: Annie Mac – Before Midnight

The perfect excuse to rally the rave crew, for an all day event headlined by global DJ Annie Mac, broadcasting on BBC Radio 1 for 17 years. Plus special guests Wookie, Scarlett O’Malley and Melle Brown.

Bristol Sounds is eliminating booking fees for group bookings of 8 people or over, making it even easier to get your fellow ravers together for the ultimate summer party in Bristol.

The Breeders

Teaming up with the multi-venue spring festival Ritual Union, Bristol Sounds will see the first ever “Ritual Union presents” all day event headlined by The Breeders. Their volatile mix of hooky pop and experimental tangents, shaped the early-90s alternative rock revolution and have forged a resolutely independent path ever since. Plus music from special guests: Ty Segall, Squid, CSS, mary in the junkyard, Welly, Grandmas House, Sam Akpro, Sunglasz Vendor, The Stanford Family Band, Pem, The Waeve & TTSSFU.
