Flamboyant and charismatic, Martin Fry enjoyed worldwide success as the lead singer of 80s New Romantics ABC. Now he is on tour for his most intimate nationwide show yet, and you can join him at the Babbacombe Theatre on Thursday 14th November at 7.30pm.
He will be performing the biggest hit songs of his career, from Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, and from Be Near Me, to When Smokey Sings, Martin will also share his personal stories of more than four decades in the music industry.
Formed in Sheffield in 1980, ABC redefined glamour and cool with their distinctive debut album The Lexicon of Love, which fizzed with bright ideas, and achieved TransAtlantic success. Martin harked back to a golden era of luxe, as though Cole Porter had been re-imagined among the narrow streets of Sheffield.
Little wonder his sleek, opulent, and beautiful debut album retains the affection of listeners four decades on. With good reason, it has stood the test of time.
ABC – An Intimate Evening With Martin Fry follows a sold-out tour of the UK, which included three sell-out nights at London Palladium, and coincides with the publication of his autobiography – That’s the look, that’s the look… The Look of Love and you can book your tickets for what promises to be a memorable evening for all 80’s music fans directly with the venue, either online at www.babbacombe-theatre.com or direct by calling the box office on 01803 328385.
