ORGANISERS ANNOUNCE HIATUS FOR 2023

Watchet 2022 sells out of all tickets in advance for the 6th year running. No tickets will be available on the gate.

Watchet Festival confirms 2023 will be a “fallow year” to allow time to refocus and evaluate the event’s long-term future.

Having enjoyed a triumphant return in 2021 after a COVID-enforced hiatus, the Queen’s Award-winning Watchet Festival returns to its beautiful West Somerset site with its biggest ever line up in 2022

With three internationally renowned headliners, Belinda Carlisle, The Fratellis and Level 42, alongside an extraordinary supporting line-up including, Scouting For Girls, Alabama 3, Sleeper, Dreadzone, Skinny Lister and lots more, there is little doubt that for less than £100 per adult weekend ticket, Watchet festival is one of the best value events anywhere in the UK. Little wonder then, that it has sold out in advance for the past 6 years, and has once again in 2022!

Watchet Festival CIC (Community Interest Company), who run the non-for-profit festival urge those without tickets to avoid scams and only use the authorised ethical ticket exchange, Twickets to buy and sell any tickets.

Also announced today is the decision that 2023 will be a “fallow year” for the festival. Festival Organisers Mark and Jackie Bale, have released the following statement to explain their decision.

“We haven’t come to this decision lightly, but with the many uncertainties we are all experiencing right now we feel that it’s the right time for the festival to take a break in 2023.

The ever-increasing costs involved with running an event like ours has become extremely challenging during these turbulent times.  We are mindful that we must try and continue to keep presenting quality music at Watchet Festival for our customers, providing value for money whilst sticking to our budget, all whilst staying within the boundaries of the ethos of our Community Interest Company.

Furthermore, the evolving demographic of our hometown of Watchet, and the fact that more and more land around the site of the festival and beyond is being flagged up for redevelopment – potentially affecting the long-term future of the festival site itself – has been instrumental in us having to make this decision.

Taking all the above factors into account Watchet LIVE CIC will now use the next 12 months as a “fallow year” to refocus and restructure, meaning sadly there won’t be a festival in 2023.

We would like to take this opportunity of sincerely thanking everyone who have continued to support the festival in the past and to the newcomers this year.  Without you, your trust and belief in what we do the festival wouldn’t and couldn’t have grown into the fabulous family friendly event that it is today with its place firmly stamped in the ever-increasing festival calendar.

Together let’s make Watchet 2022 the very best festival yet.”

Watchet Festival is a not-for-profit family festival with amazing views of the West Somerset coastline and beyond. Three live stages host more than 65 live acts, bringing a wide range of high-calibre musical acts not normally found performing in West Somerset, at a very affordable price.

Alongside an incredible line up and a wide variety of high-quality food stalls, the extensive in-house Cider and Real Ale prices are kept as low as possible, providing one of the best-value refreshments offerings to be found at any event in the UK.
